The last screen contains summary headings: Context, Inventory number (automatically incremented, but can be modified), Ware, Fabric, Type, Function related to type (see below). Then, the fields of quantification: number of rims, walls, bottoms, handles, minimum number of individuals to which we will return, percentage, diameter (cm). Finally, there are check boxes if the sherd will be the subject of a drawing, a photo, as well as a free but reduced commentary.
Concerning the minimum number of individuals, the system is designed so that a record corresponds to at least 0 or 1 individual, depending on whether or not there is a rim. In other words, if there are 2 sherds of rim of the same individual, 2 are indicated in R, 1 will be automatically indicated in MNI; if the 2 rims belong to 2 individuals, 1 is indicated on the rim recording and the second one is repeated.
If operators wish to weight, which is not encouraged, as this approach may overestimate certain wares or types, it is enough to multiply the record lines and establish the weighting from them.
One of the main interests of the application is a series of shortcuts to save redundant data. If we take over the case of two edges of two different individuals, after the first recording, simply click on the “New individual” button and all redundant data will be recorded. Similarly, the buttons, “New typology” if the stratigraphic unit, ware and fabric are identical, “New fabric” or “New ware” if the registration is repeated at an earlier nesting. “New context” allows you to switch to a new assembly.
“Print” allows, with synchronization with a label printer 1, to obtain a label either for the insulation of the shard or for a sample, including the site, US, Ware code, etc.
